Fruit Vendors Outside Historical Society

Fine locally Grown Fruits, Vegetables and Flowers were for sale on the lawn of the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society Museum. These photos were taken on the day of the annual community-wide garage sale, a much-anticipated fundraising event that benefits the Society. It's usually a glorious day to be out and about at THE place to be that day. So far every time I've attended the sky has been bright blue, the temperature perfect or close to it, and everyone's smiling and having a good time. The Society offers baskets of picture perfect home-grown peaches, pears and apples, cauliflower, peppers, tomatoes, potted house and garden plants, and more, including heaping baskets of gigantic blackberries, all donated by local farmers and gardeners. Be sure to go inside the museum to make your selection of one of the many varieties of delicious homemade pies. Antiques vendors are set up in Centennial Park, across the road from Gates Hall, inside of which is more good stuff for sale, and outside of which is the popular fresh-popped kettle corn stand. As you stroll up and down the road, hauling your bags of goodies and good deals, don't miss the garage sale in the basement of the United Methodist Church. Take a break from shopping to sit on a bench at the Captains Monument, to gaze out upon the lake from our inland shore. There's a sense of peace at this spot, when the waters are calm and the sun beams down. Could it be that the spirits of the brave village defenders of the Battle of Pultneyville are watching down on us as we enjoy ourselves? Check out the Society's website to see more photos of this beautiful village and events.
