Remarks on the harvest of 1874: Wheat one fourth more than an average yield; oats an average yield; peaches killed by frost; cabbages destroyed by worms; other crops a fair average.

Domestic animals in cities and villages; the number of domestic animals kept by those who occupy no farming lands, are 12 horses; 23 cows.

Remarks on the mortality of the year ending June 1, 1875: The deaths for the past year have been but few.

Wages, estimated average pay of hired laborers and mechanics, exclusive of board: men working at common hand labor in building etc. $1.50 by the day; farm hands hired by the season or year $1.00 by the day, $23.00 by the month; women hired for common household work $2.00 by the week; carpenters and joiners $2.50 by the day; mason, stone and bricklayer $2.50 by the day; blacksmiths $2.00 by the day; painters and glaziers $2.00 by the day; dressmakers 75 cents by the day; sewing and other woman's hand labor 75 cents by the day; male teachers in public schools $2.25 by the day; female teachers in public schools $1.25 by the day

Remarks on the harvest of 1874: The yield of the crop of 74 was one quarter above that of former years particularly of wheat crop. The present crops on the ground are somewhat backward but promise a good yield (except wheat), which was badly injured by late frosts and will fall one quarter below the average of former years. The hay crop is more than an average this year. The potato bug is alarming prevalent through my district.
