Rose & Huron NY School District No. 2

Rosters of Students

1844 - 1848

The following official registers of students were transcribed from the Office of the County Historian's original attendance register of Rose and Huron School District No. 2. This register book is in well-preserved condition after 160 years and the handwriting is clear and legible. To our knowledge, this is the first transcription ever made of it.

The few names difficult to make out are followed by (?); names undecipherable are represented by ___. You'll note that spellings of names of the same students vary between teachers' lists. All spellings are exactly as originally written, so this historical resource won't be changed or "corrected" - if you recognize your relative, then this transcription has served it's purpose. As deciphering old handwriting is subjective, please view the original yourself at the County Historian's Office in Lyons, NY. For ease in online reading, commas have been added between dates, names and number of days of attendance.

The persons who prepared these lists, and who swore to their accuracy, were the teachers.
