The Gould Family

Samuel S. Gould, born 28 May 1822 in Cayuga County, New York, the son of Chester and Ester (Sharp) Gould, both of New York, married about 1849 to Catherine C. Wheeler born 27 October 1832 in Victory, Cayuga County, NY. Catherine was the daughter of Valentine and Sally Wheeler.
Samuel and Catherine moved to Remsen (Forestport) Oneida County, where they had their eleven children:
Mamie, George, Chester O., Lorenzo O., Samuel C., Ida E., Sarah, Bradford S., Charles H., William V. and Georgeanna H.
The 1869 Gazetteer of Oneida County lists Samuel Gould as residing on Lot 26 of the Remsenburg Patent. (Forestport was taken from Remsen in 1870.) Samuel, Catherine and their children moved back to Wayne County before 1873. Samuel and Catherine were both baptized at the Butler Center Methodist Church on 21 September 1873. Samuel is listed as a landowner in Butler, NY in the 1874 "Atlas of Wayne County, New York, From Actual Surveys and Official Records."
Samuel S. Gould died 6 January 1910 and was buried 9 January 1910:
"Savannah Times, Fri., January 10, 1910
Catherine (Wheeler) Gould died 9 May 1905 in Butler, Wayne, NY of general debility and is buried in the Butler Center Cemetery, Butler, Wayne, NY.
