George W. Cowles' Landmarks of Wayne County, New York contains many biographical sketches that residents contributed to him in 1895, as well as bios of prominent residents who'd passed away. The sketches weren't published in alphabetical order and start towards the end of the alphabet. We'll be posting biographies in their original order of appearance in the book as more pages are contributed to us, and building the index as we know who's in it. This could take a long time. If you have access to a copy of the book and could assist in speeding up the posting on line by typing up new entries, or proof-reading current entries, from your own book, please contact the site coordinators (email addresses on main page of this site).

That request for site visitors to participate in helping grow this site's pre-1900 resources was written in January 2005, over 6 years ago. No response; another well-intentioned effort to provide free on-line genealogical resources discontinued. But.... since that time the whole book has been posted on line for you to download in various formats, graciously provided by one of our local region's universities.
