Charles Edmund Gage of Ontario, N.Y.

Charles Edmund Gage was born on 30 April 1876 in Ontario, Wayne Co., NY., the son of John and Mary Elizabeth (Whitcomb) Gage. On 24 December 1896, Charles married Augusta Mallison.

Charles and Augusta had five children:
John C., Clarence C., Bessie M,. Raymond L. and Leslie E.

Charles served in the U.S. Army in World War I, American Expeditionary Forces, in France, and was Sgt. 1st Class, 306 Field Sig. Bn., 81st Div. We have an original letter sent to him, signed by Gen. John J. Pershing.

Charles Gage died 6 October 1947 in Ontario, Wayne, NY of Coronary Thrombosis, and is buried in the Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario, Wayne, NY.
