Important Note: this index is posted to assist those researching their genealogy. It's not a complete listing of individuals interred in this cemetery, but walking the cemetery will continue at some point this year. Most burials have headstones, and the information above came from walking through the cemetery. The people who don't have headstones simply have a marker with a number on it. The site coordinators have no information about the Newark Developmental Center (NDC) or their records, BUT in New York State records of patients are not available to the public due to privacy reasons. We don't know how long the cemetery was in operation, anything about the time span that records were kept of those interred, or if (and where) there are records of who the number markers represent. This listing comes from actually walking the cemetery. We recommend that you contact a local library for obituaries to gain information about the individuals.
