The Mystery of Bill Dean's Cemetery Database
Bill Dean, former Town Historian for Galen, compiled a list of over 30,000 persons identified by number, many of whom are buried in Galen and surrounding towns; others are spouses or parents who were buried elsewhere or were alive at the time the records were compiled, and also indicated by number.
He assigned cemeteries by number where location was known, but he left no key or code whatsoever to identify these cemeteries. We have been able to identify many of them, but many others, particularly the smaller cemeteries, remain to be identified.
I have worked on the cemetery records compiled by Bill Dean and converted all those identifiable for the Town of Rose only to a simpler format. Records for the remaining townships in the Dean file (Galen, Savannah, Butler) have not been converted. All are available to look at in the Clyde-Savannah Library in Clyde N.Y.
Please review the list, noting the more common surnames among the deceased. If you can identify the cemetery or its location, contact Frank Dennis fgdennis@msu.edu, coordinator for the Town of Rose.

Dean's No. 9. However, he lists 412 graves (some duplication because of
multiple marriages), whereas there are only about 300 in the Lock Berlin

"One more piece in the puzzle -- the Weeds recorded in Bill Dean's
