Remarks on the harvest of 1874: Corn below the average 1/4 from cold weather, all other crops good.
Domestic animals in cities and villages. The number of domestic animals kept by those who occupy no farming lands are 40 horses; 55 cows.
Wages, estimated average pay of hired laborers and mechanics, exclusive of board: men working at common hand labor in building etc. $1.50 by the day; farm hands hired by the season or year $1 by the day, $20 by the month; farm hands hired in haying and harvest $2 by the day; women hired for common household work $2 by the week; carpenters and joiners $2.50 by the day; masons, stone and bricklayers $3 by the day; shoemakers (journeymen) $15 by the week; blacksmiths $40 by the month; painters and glaziers $3 by the day; dressmakers $1 by the day; sewing and other woman's hand labor 75 cents by the day; teamsters with 2 horses $4 by the day; teamsters with 1 horse $2.50 by the day; male school teacher $50 a month; female school teacher $15 by the month.
General Remarks: We find an increase of pop., 159, oweing to some extent to the Lake Ontario Shore R.R., a small gathering near the depot of said R.R. In this town pop. of Rose village (not incor.) 460
