In response to your page requesting additional background on Abram Doremus, the Town Clerk's Register of Men who served in the Civil War Series #13774 indicates that Abram Doremus was born 9/15/1826 at Mentz, Cayuga Co., NY, son of John M. Doremus and Margaret Vanderhoof, enlisted at Rose, NY as Pvt on 8/30/1864 and mustered out on 6/6/1865 at Washington, DC, occupation of farmer.

The obituary for his wife, provided that he had children Mrs. Lyman Briggs, Mrs. Luman Briggs, Mrs. W.B. Hill, Mrs. D. Gillett of Huron, Mrs. D. Colburn of Newark and a son George Doremus of Michigan.
