12/22/04 - TO BE CONTINUED? The year 2004 census transcription project, the 1870 Census of Williamson, surprisingly received just one researcher response between February 2004 and May 2005 acknowledging that a transcription was on line. Are Huron residents of more interest to Wayne County researchers than the Williamson residents were, or did we make a poor choice? The Town of Huron was selected as the year 2005 census transcription project because, compared to other towns, not much has been contributed for it in 6 1/2 years. Before transcribing beyond the first fifteen pages, we'd appreciate hearing from researchers as to whether they have interest in Huron, or if we should be making more productive use of our time - perhaps coding information that YOU have to share with others for another town. If you'd like to see the rest of the 50+ page 1870 Huron census transcribed for the site this year, or if you found the Williamson transcription useful, the site coordinators (email links on front page of site) would appreciate your notes of interest and encouragement.
2/2/11 FOLLOW-UP. Well, a poor choice was made ... again. In just over 6 years not one researcher acknowledged that this transcription was helpful to them, let alone offered to assist, and no further acknowledgement of the time ill-spent transcribing Williamson.

Censustaker Wm. J. Glen's penmanship was neater and more legible than most, but open to interpretation. Several first names and surnames were difficult to make out. If someone's name is totally off-base or misinterpreted, or a number was read wrong, please contact the site coordinators with the correction. It's advisable to take all online census transcriptions as a starting point and view the original census microfilm yourself.
