neighbors. The Abner Osborn deed was on the same page as my own ancestor's deed. If you're related to anyone mentioned in this deed,
please let us know.

DEED OF JAMES AND POLLY LAMB HARPER TO CLARINDA PHELPS
The following couple are my 3x great-grandparents, James and Mary A. Lamb Harper. James was the son of an elusive Joseph Harper
who came to Galen early, appearing in the census at the same time as other Harpers from Washington County, and disappears on me.
Mary and sister Clarinda B. Lamb Phelps were daughters of Joseph Lamb (son of William Lamb, Rev. War soldier of Harpersfield,
Schoharie County, now in Delaware Co.), and his wife Rachel Skinner (also of Harpersfield but parentage unknown, total dead end, who
was her family?). The Joseph Lamb family came to Galen after the War of 1812, after a stay of a few years near other Lamb brothers in Springport,
Cayuga County, where Mary was born. The land described below is in a picturesque little valley in the extreme southeast
corner of the town of Galen, not far west of John Armitage's well-known stage inn and a few hundred feet from the site of the county's infamous
McFee murder incident (leading to Wayne County's first and maybe only public hanging). The land was originally part of Joseph Lamb's farm, which ran over
the border into Tyre, Seneca County. According to the 1874 map, Clarinda Phelps lived on land that was flush by the Lamb Schoolhouse (School #2)
property. I would like to know who Sally Clark was (listed living alone on 1850 census), as well as any leads to Clarinda's brick wall
husband Albert Phelps. According to my gg-gm's obit and early census records, James and Mary A. Lamb Harper had many children but I've
only been able to document by name from the 1850 census three sons who didn't marry and my gg-grandmother Mary Jane. This deed is the
last sighting of my ggg-gf James Harper.
