Old Quaker Cemetery
Macedon Center
Wayne County, NY
The following statement was written on the original cemetery list in the Wayne County Historical / Tourism Office at Lyons, NY.:
"There are many burials in this cemetery, but according to Quaker tradition, they were buried in rows as the people died, not in families, and no stones mark their graves. Nor are there records kept. The old part of the ground is badly overgrown and almost impenetrable."
This cemetery is located in the area of Macedon township called Macedon Center. A quiet four corners where many of our ancestors were born, lived and died. Many were Quakers and lead lives in that faith. On the southeast corner, of the four corners, is a building that was the Old Quaker Meeting House. If you walk behind this building you will find the over grown area of the Cemetery. As of a few years ago there were a few tombstones standing and readable.
