Warren S. Bartle's will is one of a group of documents transcribed and contributed by researcher Ron Reid! "What I am trying to do is find a solid connection between Friend Kenyon and a supposed son by the name of Jonas Kenyon. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence but I am still searching for that irrefutible link. Therefore I am working from Friend Kenyon forward and Jonas Kenyon backwards. I will probably be getting more into the Garlock/Garlach line because we know Friend Kenyon married a Garlock and came from Herkimer to Wayne with the Garlock bunch in the 1830's."

Last Will and Testament of Warren S. Bartle
Recorded in Deed Book 147, Page 128

In the name of God Amen I Warren S. Bartle of Newark N.Y. being of the age of sixty four years and of sound & disposing mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last Will and testament in manner following namely.

First I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Eliza Bartle, all my household furniture of every kind and description.

Second I give bequeath & devise all my real & personal estate not specified above to my said wife Eliza to be used & enjoyed by her for and during the term of her natural life subject to the provisions hereinafter contained.

and bequeath unto Eldora L Horton wife of James Horton the one third of the proceeds of my real & personal estate which shall be converted unto money. To Charlotte M Fraleigh the equal one third thereof, and the other one third is bequeathed to my executor hereinafter named, interest nevertheless to pay over to my son James P. Bartle the interest thereof annually and so much of the principal as he my executor shall from time to time think proper for the support of him & family and at his decease I order & direct that the balance of said fund be paid over to the child or children of said James P Bartle living at his decease.

Fourth while my wife Eliza shall live I give & bequeath to the said Charlotte M Fraleigh a home with her free of any expense.

Fifth I do hereby nominate & appoint my wife Eliza as executrix and my friend Moses M Kenyon to be the executor of this my last will & testament and I do hereby authorize and empower them in their discretion to sell any or all the real estate of which I shall die seized during the life time of wife Eliza and at her decease I do order and direct authorize & empower my executor to convert all my estate into money if not before done & the proceeds divided as above mentioned the foregoing provisions for my wife Eliza are in lieu of all dower or claim for dower.

        The above instrument consisting of one half sheet of paper was at the date thereof signed, sealed, published & declared by Warren S. Bartle as & for his last Will & testament and we at his request and in his presence & in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto

        Be it remembered, that on the day of the date hereof the last will and testament of Warren S. Bartle late of the town of Arcadia in said county deceased being the [annexed] written instrument was duly proved before Thaddeus W Colliers surrogate of the said County according to law as and for the last will and testament of the real & personal estate of the said deceased, which said last will and testament and the proofs and examinations taken thereon, are duly recorded in the surrogate office of said county
        In testimatony whereof the surrogate of the said county hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal of office the 16th day of September 1882.
